NEDPA Welcomes Alyssa Kealy As Director of Member Services and Industry Relations

The Northeast Dairy Producers Association (NEDPA) is pleased to announce that Alyssa Kealy has joined their staff as the Director of Member Services and Industry Relations.

“Since its founding over two decades ago, NEDPA has established a successful track record of addressing evolving policy, regulation, and issues impacting the Northeast dairy industry,” said Jon Greenwood, chairman of the NEDPA Board of Directors. “Alyssa will support our dairy farm members, providing customized service and support.”

As Director of Members Services and Industry Relations, Alyssa provides guidance, tools and resources to help dairy farm members stay current and compliant with regulations and industry requirements and standards. In addition, she works with farm members and industry partners to support community relations, bridging the communications gap about modern dairy industry practices such as nutrient management, animal well-being, and worker well-being.

“We are excited to have Alyssa join our NEDPA team and work on behalf of members,” said NEDPA Executive Director Tonya Van Slyke. “Alyssa’s passion for agriculture, work experience, and community outreach efforts bring skills to our organization that will enhance our current efforts, as well as provide vision to the growth opportunities identified in our strategic plan.”

 

 

Alyssa is a 2014 graduate of St. Lawrence University where she majored in biology. Her interest in cows and the dairy industry was sparked by experiences doing rounds with a local bovine veterinarian during high school and college. Following graduation, she was a research technician at Miner Institute before accepting a position as Agricultural Outreach Educator at Jefferson County Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE).

In her Extension position, Alyssa dovetailed her outreach responsibility with her passion for writing by launching a “Dear Aggie” column in the Watertown Daily Times and initiating a social media presence for Jefferson County CCE. Alyssa has volunteered at the Dairy Birthing Center at NYS Fair for the past five years and completed social media advocacy outreach training through the American Dairy Association North East’s DairyFAN (Dairy Food Advocacy Network) program.

Alyssa works from a home office in Watertown, NY, and looks forward to sharing her passion for the dairy industry and having a meaningful impact as part of the NEDPA team.
