Free online episodes offer insights to help producers make informed decisions
Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), announces the line-up of speakers for week 60 of The Dairy Signal™. Episodes this week feature the latest developments in dairy research and policy news, as well as a discussion on financial success.
The Dairy Signal kicks off June with presentations from two “rising stars” from the dairy research team of Dr. Heather White, PhD, Associate Professor of Nutritional Physiology of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, including Ryan Pralle, Assistant Professor of Animal Science and Researcher, Dairy Innovation Hub, UW-Platteville and Henry Holdorf, PhD Candidate, Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences, UW-Madison. They will share research updates on sub-clinical ketosis and the impact of rumen-protected choline on cow health.
Paul Bleiberg, Senior Vice President, Government Relations, National Milk Producers Federation, will share updates from Washington, DC, and how changes could impact dairy policy and economy. Gary Sipiorski, independent business and financial consultant and Dr. Kevin Bernhardt, Professor of Agribusiness at UW-Platteville School of Agriculture and Farm Management Specialist, will outline key elements of business and financial IQ for today’s dairy farms.
Developed by fellow dairy farmers from the PDPW Board of Directors, The Dairy Signal is a weekly series of free educational episodes offering insights and resources for fellow dairy farmers and other food system professionals throughout the value chain. The episodes air live from 12:00-1:00 PM CT each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; recorded sessions are available later in the day.

The May 25 episode featured Jeremy Cherny, Founder and President, Tobin Solutions, with insights on options to stay connected with team members as well as keeping data and information safe and private. Suzanne Fanning, Senior Vice President, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin and Chief Marketing Officer, Wisconsin Cheese, and Mike Edge, Senior Regional Marketing Director, East, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, wrapped up American Cheese Month on May 26 with updates on the efforts to market Wisconsin Cheese and shared how consumers perceptions of Wisconsin cheese and dairy products continue to evolve.
Ben Buckner, Economist at AgResource Company, joined The Dairy Signal on May 27 with a bi-weekly market update and analysis of the most recent ag trends.
Each live session offers attendees the opportunity to engage in open Q&A with the speakers through the interactive platform.

Tuesday, June 1
Topic: Hear two “rising star” dairy researchers share some of their recent work including results from an epidemiological analysis of the impact of sub-clinical ketosis on cows and herds, and findings on rumen-protected choline as a nutritional intervention during heat stress and on overall cow and calf health.
