Newtrient was recently selected to lead three Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) grants through the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) partnering with Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA), Foremost Farms, and Glanbia in the Midwest and Idaho. In addition, Newtrient will be supporting a fourth RCPP, partnering with Tillamook in Oregon. The projects are focused on methane reduction through manure management and feed additive implementation. The USDA announcement enables Newtrient to leverage NRCS’s investment combined with dairy supply chain investment to incentivize the adoption of conservation practices. In addition to the $18 million NRCS funds, the projects have committed funding of $7 million collectively from dairy companies who will purchase the reduction outcomes generated by the producer as carbon insets. The three project outcomes are expected to impact nearly 60,000 cows as well as reduce over 170k tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). View the full list of RCPP projects here.
