NFU and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) led a coalition letter, signed by more than 30 agricultural, rural, and public health organizations, urging Congress to fully fund the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network (FRSAN) in the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) appropriations bill.
FRSAN is a critical program that connects farmers, ranchers, farmworkers, and their families with stress assistance and mental health services, including telephone helplines and websites, training programs and workshops, peer support groups, and outreach services. Farming is inherently stressful, and our rural communities face significant shortages in mental health professional services.
Farmers have been operating under the weight of high input costs and low prices for the last several years, and FRSAN is an essential resource to farmers during difficult times like these – while we continue fighting for real solutions to the root causes of stress, and the crisis facing family agriculture.
