Opportunities for Veterans: Season 2 Premiere of Careers in Dairy

Leadership, devotion, discipline, and team building – these are the traits of many military veterans who have served our country and are now looking for career opportunities. Now is our opportunity to better educate military service members about the wonderful, gainful opportunities within dairy processing.

IDFA created the Careers in Dairy video series to provide members with a resource for attracting workers to the dairy industry, and today, we’re thrilled to present a new episode, “Opportunities for Veterans.”

In the episode, we highlight Hilmar Cheese Company’s Maintenance and Facilities Manager, Walter McClung, CRL, who began his career as a jet engine mechanic for the United States Air Force. When Walter left the service, he was in search of a career where his leadership skills and work ethic could be put to good use. Walter found a fulfilling career in the dairy industry and now looks for veterans when building out his team because he knows what they often bring to the table.

Workforce issues continue to be a top-of-mind across all facets of the dairy industry and, to that end, IDFA has been working with the HR Leaders in Dairy community and the IDFA Communications Committee to develop Careers in Dairy – a video series to aid IDFA member companies in their recruitment efforts in a wide variety of fields. We created the video series for you to share during job fairs, onboarding events and through recurring promotions.
