PSU Extension offers farm financial, production management course

Series will be held December 1, 8, 15 at Cumberland County Extension office

 

Business owners, agricultural producers, and entrepreneurs are invited to attend the three-part Farm Sense Farm Financial and Production Management workshop series on December 1, December 8^th and December 15^th, 2021 at the Penn State Extension Cumberland County 310 Allen Rd #601, Carlisle, PA 17013. This workshop series will run 9am-4pm each day and will deliver an empowering introduction to understanding the three main financial statements, leading and managing finances, and calculating profitability for all farming and agricultural businesses.

Farm Sense Farm Financial and Production Management course teaches four main concepts centered around the evaluation of key elements of finance; the cash flow statement, the balance sheet, the income statement, and financial analytics. Course participants will learn how to use their financial records to forsee trend lines and calculate benchmarks that will help make informed managerial decisions for the business.

All agricultural businesses are welcome to attend, including livestock, dairy, horticulture, landscape and nursery, orchard growers, greenhouse operators, and vegetable operations. Diversified farms producing multiple items can benefit from Farm Sense. Class participants will receive face-to-face, one-on-one and hands-on business training from acclaimed and experienced Penn State University Extension agriculture business educators.

Farm Sense meets all USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Borrower Training requirements for both production and financial modules. Additionally, Farm Sense qualifies for four Smart-Start credits from AgChoice Farm Credit.

Registration is $350 for one farm participant and $35 additional dollars for each guest of the same farm.
