ASL106: Ethics and Employment Regulations (in English)
In ASL106: Ethics and Employment Regulations, you’ll explore how to implement fair and ethical labor practices in agriculture and why they matter. You’ll learn to recognize and prevent sexual harassment, understand wage and hour laws, and apply Equal Employment Opportunity regulations to foster a respectful, inclusive workplace. The course also covers best practices for handling employee discipline and termination.

Ag English Mentorship Program (AEM)
With over 60% of farm employees in the U.S. being native Spanish speakers, many face challenges with English proficiency, impacting their ability to communicate effectively and progress in their careers. CAWD addresses this issue with AEM, a unique, agriculturally centered English program that combines professional instruction, dedicated mentorship, and student-driven performance. AEM ensures that learning English is both effective and engaging, directly relevant to your employees’ daily tasks and long-term goals.
A mentor must register with the English learner and commit to 15 minutes of mentorship each week. Mentors do not need to know Spanish to participate. The dual goals are to teach specific farm terminologies and to strengthen relationships between the English-speaking mentors and their Spanish-speaking employees while learning English.
Course begins: Friday, June 20, 2025 Practice sessions: Every Friday, June 27 – August 1, 2:00–3:00 PM ET The last day to register is June 18.
· The course begins on June 20, 2025.
· Live instruction sessions with the instructor will be held every Friday, June 27 to August 1, from 2:00–3:00 PM ET. These sessions are very important because they offer personalized support.
· The course is 100% virtual and can be completed from a phone or computer.
· It is recommended to dedicate at least two hours per week to complete the activities.
