It’s official! New traits and revisions to existing female reproductive traits are coming in August 2026. During this week’s meeting of the CDCB Board of Directors, leadership approved moving forward with the following changes.
-
Revising Daughter Pregnancy Rate (DPR), Cow Conception Rate (CCR), Heifer Conception Rate (HCR), and Early First Calving (EFC) models to better account for modern management practices. This is the result of a two-year foundational review of these traits.
- Introducing First Service to Conception (FSC) to provide producers with an additional tool for improving female reproductive performance. The development of this trait is also a result of the foundational review of the female reproductive performance trait package.
- Introducing two calf health traits – Resistance to Diarrhea (DIA) and Resistance to Respiratory Disease (RSP) – to address genetic opportunities for early calfhood health.
More information, key research findings, and trait resources will be shared in the coming days as materials are finalized.
