Clear options for benefit and synergies are the main reasons for RYK and VikingDanmark (VD) to move under the same roof.
Worlds first systematic milk recording was organized in Denmark back in 1895. In 2003 27 of the remaining 31 associations merged and became RYK. January 1st 2022 a new era is to start when RYK and VD will initiate a closer cooperation.
For Anders Levring, chairing VD, it is logic to work closer together.
“Both companies have one main task – to serve Danish farmers and enabling them to make a difference. We have so many things in common and a lot of options for positive synergies. The two already have a close relation in parts of the country, where AI technicians do handle equipment for milk recording and handles milk samples on behalf of RYK”.
Anders adds that despite both companies are quite well founded on the digital platform, more and heavier investments lies ahead of us. “We need to invest in new technologies and tools, and joining forces is a logic step to optimize and allocate various resources”.
A strengthening
According to Anders Levring the result of a stronger cooperation between RYK and VD also adds value to what we can offer to our farmers.
-First and foremost, we together will optimize collection of data. This is a benefit in daily management for every farmer. Furthermore, it is important to support and develop our efficient cattle breeding. On both fields strong and valid data are essential.
Finally Anders underlines that benefits also includes benefit related to computer systems, administration and large scale operation.
A clear vision and decision
-To me there is no doubt that now is the right time to join forces and move closer in our effort to cooperate around the cow. We need to cooperate in our efforts to develop cattle farming in Denmark. Looking into the future there is no doubt that milk recording will be different compared to what we do today. Data will flow more frequently and the way we do things will be so much different. This is the future we now prepare by cooperating with VikingDanmark, says Michael Jensen.
Michael continues and underline that license to produce through documentation becomes even more important and adds the value and trust of data also to be included in the agricultural political agendas.
-Because of the political link it is extremely important to have milk recording and general data collection run and controlled by farmers. This is another reason why it is the right time to enter a closer cooperation with VD.
Our service remains the same
As chair of RYK, Michael underline that everyday service and the way we do things, do not change overnight.
-It is important for me to say that the process will not affect the service provided by RYK and VikingDanmark. At first benefits will be harvested in the administration, which mean that the daily routines for milk recording and AI technicians will continue as it is today. Changes will come, when relevant and when developments on the farm require new tools and demands, is the final remarks from Michael.
Support to international activities
Michael and Anders are very much aware of the importance of continuing cooperation with individuals, organizations and service providers in other countries. They state that: “It will continue, and whenever relevant and needed, we will support and allocate needed resources to secure we do have access to the best knowledge and information available to develop our services”.
Formalities
Boards and CEO’s of RYK and VD will now work with all the related issues planned to take place as from January 1st 2022.
