Last year, the New York FFA Foundation joined the rest of the country and initiated its first Give FFA Day campaign. We demonstrated the power of collaboration and creativity by placing 3rd in the nation for both dollars raised and number of donors. New York FFA raised a total of
$30,615 from 157 donors – a truly impressive result. Retired Ag teacher, Sam Shapiro, from John Bowne High School in Queens, NY pledged matching gift funds. to encourage giving. Sam agreed to match every gift, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. Sam’s generous gift has continued to benefit NY FFA as it has inspired several other forward-minded donors to pledge matching gifts funds for the 2024 campaign. To date we have $40,000 matching gifts raised, more than what the campaign raised last year. We are excited to see how much we can increase giving this year.Granted, campaigns are about raising money, but they are also about participation. The Foundation’s mission is to provide funds for the services FFA members have come to rely on and enjoy. What our mission does not reflect is our steadfast belief that the FFA principles, as outlined by the FFA Creed, should be promoted. To that end, the 2024 campaign will also include New York’s 11,500 FFA members from 164 chapters across the state.
We welcome our community of alumni, families, friends and FFA members to help us make this a record day for New York FFA. Give FFA Day is still a few weeks away, but behind the scenes planning has begun. For those interested in supporting the campaign again, we ask that you come back and make a gift on February 22, 2024. For those considering supporting NY FFA for the first time, your gift will undoubtedly help us reach our campaign goals. This action of philanthropy from many will fund student projects, travel to competitions, scholarships for leadership programs, summer leadership camps and even new FFA jackets. With NY FFA membership nearing 12,000, the need to support our FFA has never been more important.
