Share your best “farmer-made” solution by Dec. 12

Have you built a homemade calf milk pasteurizer wagon with an electric kettle?

Did you develop a feed pusher welded and molded out of an old tire scraper?

What about an Excel spreadsheet that calculates Daily Dry Matter Intakes?

These are just a few of the many homemade remedies dairy farmers have shared with us, but we want to hear about the creative solutions you’ve built for your farm! This is part of our first-ever “Farmer-Made Ingenuity” Contest to showcase how dairy farmers are the original engineers – finding creative solutions to solving common and not-so-common problems on the farm. 

Click here to enter your best idea by December 12 for a chance to win $1,000! The top three ideas with the most votes will win a cash prize. Dairy producers from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey or West Virginia are eligible for the contest. The entry form is simple. Just share what you created, why you created it, and how it helped your farm. Get creative! Submit any homegrown ideas you can think of that have helped you create cost-savings, improve your processes, and keep your farm moving forward.

Requirements:

– Must be a dairy producer or dairy farm employee
– Must be from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey or West Virginia
– Must be an original idea developed by the dairy producer and/or dairy employee
– Must be an idea that solves a problem on the farm without risking worker safety

Prizes:

The winners will be selected in January 2026 through a digital voting system. All submitted entries may be featured on the Center for Dairy Excellence’s channels. The selected winners will be spotlighted on our digital channels and at the PA Dairy Summit in February 2026.
