Ag Supervisory Leadership (ASL) 104: Staffing and Organizing Your Team

This online course, starting January 17, 2025, is designed to help farm managers and supervisors build a stronger, more effective team. Participants will gain vital skills in personnel planning, recruitment, onboarding, and more. The course also includes strategies for avoiding bias and discrimination in the hiring process.

Course Topics Include:

· Becoming a Preferred Employer

· Personnel Planning

· Job Descriptions

· Recruiting, Interviewing, and the Selection Process

· Hiring and Onboarding

Key Details:

· Start Date: January 17, 2025

· Live Sessions: Thursdays at 3 PM ET (January 23 – February 27, 2025)

· Cost: $275 (NY residents) | $325 (Out-of-state)

· Scholarship: $100 for eligible dairy producers in the northeast (limited availability, don’t miss out!)

Thanks to the generous support from the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (NE-DBIC), eligible participants can apply for a $100 scholarship to cover a portion of their registration fees. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must select “Dairy” when prompted about their industry during the registration process. Limited scholarship opportunities are available. Eligible participants must be from the states of: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

Agricultural English Mentorship (AEM) Program

The AEM Program, designed to help Spanish-speaking farm employees improve their English, is a limited-time opportunity that offers practical training with a focus on farm-related vocabulary and communication skills.

Key Features:

· Mentorship: Weekly 15-minute sessions with an English-speaking mentor, focusing on farm-specific language.

· English Instruction: Self-paced lessons, live Zoom sessions, and video content on pronunciation, grammar, and farm terms.

Course Topics: Alphabet, greetings, farm culture, employee handbooks, and more.

Course Details:

· Start Date: January 17, 2025

· Live Sessions: Fridays, January 24 – February 28, 2025

· Platform: Moodle app (accessible on phones and computers)

· Commitment: 2 hours per week, including mentor meetings

· Registration Closes: January 23, 2025
