Agriculture Modeling and Training Systems (AMTS)

The 2022 Season of The Nutritionist will begin in April. The series is a monthly educational webinar held for the benefit of ruminant nutritionists in the United States and globally. Agriculture Modeling and Training Systems (AMTS). Of Groton, NY, manages and hosts the webinar with co-hosts from Argentina, Brazil, China, Italy, Russia, and Turkey. Presentations with followed by question sessions are offered at two times on webinar days to accommodate global time zones.

The entire of the 2022 season will focus on emissions in dairy farming. Our speakers will hit on a range of topics—using by-products to reduce the environmental impacts, sustainably sourced feeds, animal agriculture and climate change, fact sharing with the non-agricultural sector, scientific advancements in emission research, and formulating for lower emissions. The speaker roster and dates are:

  • 14 April Dr Mike Van Amburgh, Cornell: Progress in Reducing the Environmental Impact of Dairy
  • 12 May Dr Elliot Block, Church & Dwight: Palm Oil, what is it and how sustainable is it?
  • 9 June Dr Frank Mitloehner, UC Davis: The Real Story about Climate Change and Animal Agriculture
  • 14 July Dr Jude Capper, Harper Adams and Dr Sara Place, Elanco: Sustainability information for the non-farm sector
  • 11 August Dr Joe McFadden, Cornell: What to expect from the new Climate-Controlled Respiration Chambers and a look at Hydroponic Fodder
  • 8 September Dr Tom Tylutki, AMTS: Formulating for Profit and a Better Environment

The Nutritionist is intended to serve an Extension-type function in advanced nutrition; the webinars are free.
