Urge Congress to Support Whole Milk in Schools

Ohio Dairy Producers Association

This week the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act (H.R. 1147). This is the bipartisan bill that will expand the milk options schools can choose to serve in federal school meal programs to include 2% and whole milk, in addition to the non-fat and 1% varieties currently allowed.

ODPA has been advocating for this bill with the US Congressional Delegation all year and we need your help! Please contact your state representative to urge them to support whole milk in schools and vote YES on the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act.

We are relatively confident the bill will pass the House. However, we are still working to get as many members as possible to vote “Yes” to send the clear message that returning 2% and whole milk to schools has widespread, bipartisan support. We are hopeful a strong message of such support will be useful in our Senate efforts to move the companion bill (S. 1957) as well as ongoing efforts to protect and expand dairy in nutrition programs via the USDA rulemaking process.
