Free online episodes offer insights to help producers make informed decisions
Eric Snodgrass, Principal Atmospheric Scientist for Nutrien Ag Solutions, returns to The Dairy Signal to review weather patterns impacting U.S. growing regions and an outlook for growing conditions through the summer.
Dr. John Goeser, PhD, Director of Nutritional Research and Innovation at Rock River Lab, Inc., and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Dairy Science Department at University of Wisconsin-Madison, will share nutritional analysis of this season’s hay crop and how to manage feed costs with high quality feeds. Kristin Quist, Dairy Manager, Minglewood, Inc., Deer Park, Wis., and Heather Moore, Owner, Moore Family Farms and Moore Local, Maquoketa, Iowa, will provide insights on starting and growing a successful on-farm business.
Developed by fellow dairy farmers from the PDPW Board of Directors, The Dairy Signal is a weekly series of free educational episodes offering insights and resources for fellow dairy farmers and other food system professionals throughout the value chain. The episodes air live from 12:00-1:00 PM CT each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; recorded sessions are available later in the day.

On June 8, Charlie Arnot, CEO of The Center for Food Integrity and president of Look East, provided an update on consumer trends throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and how values are driving consumer choices and opinions on technology and other issues. Dr. Geoffrey E. Dahl, Harriet B. Weeks Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida, reviewed research results on the impact of heat stress in dry cows and lactating cows, and provided practical recommendations for heat abatement during the June 9 episode.
Dan Basse, Economist and President of AgResource Company, returned to The Dairy Signal on June 10 for a bi-weekly market update, discussing market implications of drought conditions and other timely topics.
Each live session offers attendees the opportunity to engage in open Q&A with the speakers through the interactive platform.
