The Genasci Brothers’ long established Registered Holstein herd was well appreciated

It was a tremendous group of cattle averaging 97 lbs. of daily milk weight from beautiful udders and great conformation overall, with sound feet and legs and well-balanced, well grown frames. The breeding program featured frontline AI sires and deep pedigrees headlined by a couple of key cow families, notably the Ravens, tracing to Markwell Bstar E Raven-ET (3E-95) with over 100 Excellent descendants.
A total of eight head sold for more than $3000 and the high was $3900 for an EX Doorman milking with fourth calf at 5y11m and bred back to King Doc. Purchased by the Dairy Department at Fresno State, she is from a VG-88 dam, an EX-92 Atwood second dam and the third dam Ms Kingstead Chief Adeen-ET (2E-94).
The sale opened at 9 a.m. with an offering of 2500 head sold in lots, sorted by age and stage of lactation and shown on video. A total of 87 pens were sold until about 12 noon when there was a short break when a terrific barbecue chicken lunch was served to all. It was a sizable crowd filled with friends and neighbors of the very well regarded Genascis.
After the break, the sale resumed with individual animals cataloged with pedigrees and sold through the ring, some 320 head including animals of all ages, with the last one through the ring about 7 p.m. Dave Rama handled the gavel with assistance from Chuck Cozzi of Escalon Livestock. Kevin Jorgensen of Wisconsin and Gilbert Teixeira, a neighbor in Turlock, read pedigrees. Merry Rama and Linda Reynolds did the clerking assisted by Karla Stockli and Linda Teixeira.
