Tommy Allen Received National Young Jersey Breeder Award

The American Jersey Cattle Association named Tommy Allen of All-Lynn Jersey in Reedsburg, Wis., as one of this year’s six Young Jersey Breeder Award winners. He was honored by the association on June 18 at the 158th annual meeting in Springfield, Mo.

The Young Jersey Breeder Award is granted to individuals or couples who are between the ages of 28 and 40 on January 1 of their nomination year. The award recognizes the winners’ expertise in dairy farming, breeding Jersey cattle, participation in programs of the American Jersey Cattle Association and National All-Jersey Inc., and leadership in Jersey and other dairy and agriculture organizations.

Growing up, Allen could be found alongside David Allen, his grandfather and 2017 AJCA Master Breeder. The two of them traveled the Midwest to Registered Jersey sales and the All American Jersey Show together. They studied pedigrees, evaluated genetics, and talked about animals’ potential in the ring. Thanks to his grandfather, Allen found his passion that shaped his future and laid the foundation for the next generation of the All-Lynn Jersey breeding program.

His first Jersey purchase came from the Badger Treasure Sale in Wisconsin. He carefully invested and watched genetics to build his herd.

One of his most influential purchases were two Pot O’Gold purchases. Rocha Impuls Whitney-ET who was not only excellent in production but also was a foundation for success through sons entering A.I. and next generations sold through elite Jersey events.

Another success story for Allen was Jars of Clay Iatola 167102751-ET whose son impacted the world – All Lynns Valentino Irwin-ET. Irwin has produced thousands of daughters worldwide and left a mark on the Jersey world through production, type, and descendants.

Through the Pot O’Gold Sale, the All American Jersey Sale and the Top of the World Sale, Allen has contributed elite genetics to the breed. He is most proud of syndicating All-Lynns Chatham Martini-ET through the 2025 All American Sale and offering some of his best genetic foundations to date.

With his modest-sized herd, Allen was big dreams. He has created a successful business model, allowing him to identify goal donors, develop the next generation of genetics, and continue advancing his breeding program through embryo transfer and IVF.

Allen has a history of commitment to the Jersey community. As a graduate of Jersey Youth Academy, active member of the Wisconsin Junior Jersey Breeders Association, and contributing to agriculture through leadership at his local Farm Bureau, Allen’s roots in the community run deep.
