CCE Cayuga increases support for Cayuga County dairy and field crop farmers

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County is proud to say that we have recently become a member of the South Central New York Dairy and Field Crops Regional Extension Team. The South Central team is a partnership between Cornell University and the CCE Associations in these seven counties: Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Onondaga, Tioga & Tompkins. By joining this regional extension team, CCE Cayuga will increase support for Cayuga County dairy and field crop farmers with more educational opportunities, applied research projects, and linkages with other extension specialists across the state.

The South Central New York Dairy and Field Crops Team will provide farmers access to additional extension specialists in growing field crops, farm business management, dairy cattle management, farm business management, and provide additional expertise for beef and other livestock. Regional extension specialists in the team will plan and develop workshops for farmers and conduct on-farm research in the county. The SCNYDFC Team works to enhance the profitability of farms to maintain a strong regional dairy industry, create a greater awareness of trends and options to help producers achieve family and business goals. As well as maintain environmentally responsible ag practices and encourage a better understanding of agriculture by the general community.

CCE Cayuga remains the best point of contact for farmers and residents of Cayuga County. CCE Cayuga is part of the national Cooperative Extension system, a partnership between County, State, and Federal governments that is administered in New York State through Cornell University. Cornell Cooperative Extension puts knowledge to work in pursuit of economic vitality, ecological sustainability, and social well-being. We bring local experience and research-based solutions together, helping Cayuga County families and communities thrive in our rapidly changing world.

Cornell Cooperative Extension provides equal program and employment opportunities.
