The California Department of Food and Agriculture, Animal Health and Food Safety Services is announcing multiple vacancies on the Cattle Health Advisory Task Force. Food and Agricultural Code Section 10610 provides for the establishment of a task force to advise the Secretary of the Department of Food and Agriculture on the control and management of cattle diseases and evaluate the effectiveness of cattle health programs.
The term of office for board members shall be for a period of two (2) years. In order to facilitate staggered recruitment, one representative from each of the below categories shall be appointed to serve for two (2) consecutive terms by the Secretary. Members of the committee or alternate members when acting as members, receive no compensation, but are entitled to reimbursement for per diem expenses such as: mileage, lodging, meals, and incidental expenses.
Applications are currently being accepted for the following member vacancies:
• three (3) member representatives from the beef cattle industry (producer or livestock trade association representative);
• three (3) member representatives from the dairy cattle industry (producer or livestock trade association representative);
• one (1) member representative from the Livestock Market Association;
• three (3) member representatives from the veterinary community specializing in beef and/or dairy practice;
• two (2) member representatives from the academic, university or extension community specializing in cattle health diseases; and
• one (1) member representative from the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratories System.
