IDFA Thanks House Subcommittee for Advancing the PACK Act, Urges Full House Passage

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade voted to advance H.R. 6832, the Packaging and Claims Knowledge Act, or PACK Act. Michael Dykes, president and CEO of the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA), released the following statement in support of the legislation which would establish a federal framework under the Federal Trade Commission for recyclable, compostable and reusable packaging claims, substantiated by accredited independent third-party certification:

“Dairy manufacturers rely on packaging to safely deliver nutritious products to consumers, yet businesses today face a confusing patchwork of state requirements governing recyclable, compostable and reusable claims. The PACK Act would establish a clear, consistent federal framework that gives consumers more reliable information, supports informed choices and allows businesses to focus resources on packaging innovation rather than conflicting state mandates. IDFA is grateful to Chairman Bilirakis, Ranking Member Schakowsky and the Subcommittee for their leadership on this issue and urge the full House to pass this important legislation and advance it to the Senate for consideration.”
