We’re Back on the Farm For Hands-on Training
Dairy producers, do you want to boost your skills in animal care this spring? You and your entire team are invited to free, on-farm Animal Care Workshops! Hosted by the Center for Dairy Excellence, PA Beef Council, the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania (PDMP) and Penn State Extension, the events are being held on five dairy farms across the state.
Throughout the workshops, you’ll rotate through four hands-on training areas. After a physical animal handling demonstration, you can get in the pen and practice those skills with cattle. Next, practice hands-on skills related to dystocia with a calving model from Penn State. Learn more about the training areas at the free workshops.
What to know about the free workshops:
- The workshops will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on five farms across the state throughout March and April. View dates and locations below.
- Lunch will be provided at each event.
- The workshops are ideal for both English and Spanish-speaking employees. Please make sure to register in advance if you are Spanish-speaking or bringing Spanish speakers along with you, so we can make sure an interpreter is present.
- A certificate will be provided at the conclusion of each workshop to show your commitment to National FARM and animal care.
“Very informative.” “I liked that it was practical.” “The day flowed well and topics were great,” shared past attendees.
