Leading dairy co-op adds member services representative

Julie Veldhuis has joined Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative as a member services representative.

Veldhuis will help Edge deliver services to members, including recruitment and member engagement, and will also support farmers within the Dairy Strong Sustainability Alliance.

“Julie not only has the skills and knowledge necessary to assist our members but also endless passion and energy to drive Edge forward throughout the countryside,” Tim Trotter, executive director of Edge, said.

Veldhuis (pronounced “Veld-hise”) owned and operated a dairy farm for 20 years and has extensive experience in dairy promotion, having served on the board of directors of United Dairymen of Idaho, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin and the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board. She most recently was marketing and public relations manager for Pagel’s Ponderosa Dairy in Kewaunee, Ron’s Wisconsin Cheese in Luxemburg and The Cannery Public Market in Green Bay.

“I am excited to be joining such a strong team that is making a positive difference for dairy farmers and the dairy community overall,” Veldhuis said. “Hopefully, my 30-plus years of experience in the dairy industry will help grow Edge’s membership and strengthen our voice on behalf of all dairy farmers.”

Veldhuis will work directly with Edge members in the cooperative’s western region, including Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. She will also assist with the implementation of programs as part of the sustainability alliance, a collaborative group that works toward continuous improvement in various aspects of the dairy supply chain.
