The grain is in storage, but the management of it continues.
An On-Farm Grain Storage Management Workshop will be held at Kinderhook Creek Farm, 5168 So. Stephentown Rd., Stephentown, NY on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Sponsored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension Capital Area Agriculture and Horticulture Program, this workshop will help farmers maintain the quality of their grain as it waits in storage for the best marketing opportunity. Lunch will be catered by The Farmer’s Feed Bunk.
Ken Wise, NYS Integrated Pest Management Specialist will discuss managing stored-grain insects. A storage facility tour with Larry Eckhardt and Aaron Gabriel will focus on SLAM management (Sanitation, Loading, Aeration, Monitoring). Industry sponsors will talk about grain handling equipment and new things that are coming.
Farmers are encouraged to bring their grain moisture meters and test them with a grain sample of known moisture.
RSVP required. $10.00 per person with pre-registration required by Friday, Nov. 15, 2019. After Nov. 15, the price per person is $15.
