National Agricultural Law Center webinar on foreign land ownership

A National Agricultural Law Center (NALC) webinar on Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. CST, will feature NALC Staff Attorney Micah Brown, who will present “Who Owns the Farm? Foreign Ownership Legislative Update.”

In 2023, more than half of the nation’s states either proposed bills or enacted laws to restrict foreign ownership of farmland. Now, federal lawmakers are eyeing similar proposals. Of the 24 states that have a law limiting foreign acquisitions of land within their state, 12 states enacted a foreign ownership law in 2023.

Since Brown’s last webinar earlier this year, numerous foreign ownership updates have occurred. Brown is a leading expert on foreign ownership, arguably the single most active issue at the state and federal levels. This webinar will cover the necessary information to understand the current state of foreign ownership legislation.
