Free online episodes offer insights to help producers make informed decisions

Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), announces the line-up of speakers for week 59 of The Dairy Signal™. Episodes this week feature technology tips and updates on dairy promotion and ag market news.

Jeremy Cherny, Founder and President, Tobin Solutions, will discuss technology options for keeping farm teams connected and communicating effectively on the go.  With National Dairy Month just around the corner, Suzanne Fanning, Senior Vice President, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin and Chief Marketing Officer, Wisconsin Cheese, and Mike Edge, Senior Regional Marketing Director, East, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, will provide updates on efforts to boost awareness and sales of Wisconsin dairy products with consumers and retailers around the world.

Dan Basse, Economist and President of AgResource Company, will return to The Dairy Signal to provide a bi-weekly market update and analysis of the most recent ag trends.

Developed by fellow dairy farmers from the PDPW Board of Directors, The Dairy Signal is a weekly series of free educational episodes offering insights and resources for fellow dairy farmers and other food system professionals throughout the value chain. The episodes air live from 12:00-1:00 PM CT each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; recorded sessions are available later in the day.

On May 11, Dr. Mark Stephenson, PhD, Director of Dairy Policy Analysis at UW-Madison and Director of Wisconsin’s Center for Dairy Profitability, spoke about economic shocks like the Colonial Pipeline hacking and how they can impact markets and dairy industry, as well as how farms can prepare their businesses to better handle market volatility.

The May 12 episode featured an interactive panel discussion with Sarah Daugherty, Workforce Development Manager, Paramount Calves, Darlington, Wis., Katie Gerrits, Director of Human Resources, Breeze Dairy Group, Pine River, Wis., and Kevin Wulf, Community Relations and Employee Education, Riverview LLP, Morris, Minn. They shared the practices and processes on their farms they have implemented to build a strong culture, including improved communications, training, rewards and benefit programs.

Mary Ledman, Global Dairy Strategist, Rabobank, joined The Dairy Signal on May 13 with a market-by-market look at international dairy news and policies and a discussion of potential impact on U.S. producers.

Each live session offers attendees the opportunity to engage in open Q&A with the speakers through the interactive platform.
