Free online episodes offer insights to help producers stay on top of industry news and insights

 

Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), announces the line-up of speakers for week 75 of The Dairy Signal™. Episodes this week will provide timely insights on farm safety, raising heifers and dairy market news.

Cheryl Skjolaas, Senior Outreach Specialist with the University of Wisconsin Center for Agricultural Safety and Health, and Justin Wege, Ag Mechanics Instructor/Tractor Safety Program Lead, Department Chair for Ag Mechanics, Outdoor Power Equipment, and Farm Business Production Management, Fox Valley Technical College, will provide important information on farm safety as we move into fall harvest season and recognize National Farm Safety and Health Week Sept. 19-25.

Walt Moore, President/Owner, Walmoore Holsteins, Inc. and Moocha Milk Transportation, Inc., West Grove, Pennsylvania, Tony Brubaker, Partner, Brubaker Farms, Mount Joy, Pennsylvania and Amanda Arata, General Manager, Kansas Dairy Development, Deerfield, Kansas, will lead a panel discussion on decision factors involved in raising replacement heifers at home or at a custom operation.

Dan Basse, Economist and President of AgResource Company, will return for a regular update on dairy markets and news.

Developed by fellow dairy farmers from the PDPW Board of Directors, The Dairy Signal is a weekly series of free educational episodes offering insights and resources for fellow dairy farmers and other food system professionals throughout the value chain. The episodes air live from 12:00-1:00 PM CT each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; recorded sessions are available later in the day.

On Sept. 7, Amy Wagner, Executive Vice President, Global Innovation Partnerships, Dairy Management Inc., and Karen Doster, Director, Youth and School Programs, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, joined The Dairy Signal to share examples of how DMI partners with companies around the world to encourage dairy products while still staying true to local tastes and preferences.  They also highlighted programs to educate and expand dairy markets in schools.

Jim Moriarty, Director Dairy Lending and Dairy Consulting, Compeer Financial, Sam Miller, Managing Director, Group Head, Agricultural Banking, BMO Harris Bank, and Tim McTique, Senior Vice President of Ag Banking with Investors Community Bank, joined the Sept. 8 episode with a panel discussion on issues that dairy lenders are watching for during the remainder of 2021 and into 2022, and tips for what producers can do to better manage their financial situation.

Steve Van Lannen, President and Chief Operating Officer of American Foods Group returned to The Dairy Signal on Sept. 9 with an update on the beef processing industry including processing capacity and challenges, beef demand and pricing, export news and the introduction of ProteinPACT, a new partnership across animal protein.

Each live session offers attendees the opportunity to engage in open Q&A with the speakers through the interactive platform.

Tuesday, Sept. 14

Topic: National Farm Safety and Health Week is celebrated September 19-25, 2021. Learn ways to keep your fall harvest season safe, including necessary equipment tune-ups. Episode presenters include:
