World-class economists, executive tours and more at three-day program in Savannah, Georgia, Jan. 10-12, 2023

Building resilience to not only survive, but to innovate, advance and even prosper is a critical element of success in today’s dairy industry. Amid volatile world markets, political unrest and sky-rocketing inflation, dairy’s top leaders need solution-based information and insights to lead their teams with confidence and focus.

The 2023 PDPW Managers Academy for Dairy Professionals® presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) is designed to give all executives in the dairy sector — dairy owners, managers, CEOs, industry directors, processors, marketers and distributors — the tools and resources they need to build stronger, more resilient dairy businesses. The program, to be held Jan. 10-12, 2023, in Savannah, Georgia, will feature world-class training, a day of touring and learning from executives outside of dairy, and networking with peers.

“Investing in yourself this winter is the best gift you can give yourself and everyone on your team,” said Katy Schultz, Fox Lake, Wis. dairy producer and PDPW board president. “A farm can’t move forward if its drivers run out of gas. Take the time to hit the brakes and refuel by attending Managers Academy.”

Registration for the 2023 academy is currently open, with a special discounted hotel rate available through Dec. 12, 2022, at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa.

Success starts with knowing the numbers – and executives will learn from three of the industry’s brightest economists and business experts:

  • Dr. Allan Gray, executive director for Purdue University’s Center for Food and Agricultural Business and Digital Innovation in Agri-Food Systems Laboratory.
  • Dr. David Kohl, professor emeritus of Agricultural Finance and Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship at Virginia Tech University
  • Dr. Ed Seifried, professor emeritus of Economic and Business at Lafayette College

Executives will spend one day outside the classroom touring outside industry organizations for a behind-the-scenes look at how other industry executives meet some of the same obstacles experienced in dairy:

  • Experience how the Georgia Ports Authority, the largest and fastest-growing container terminal in America, has handled rapid growth while serving U.S. consumers and manufacturers quickly and efficiently.
  • Learn how JCB, a global force in manufacturing, with 22 plants on six continents and 2,400 dealers around the world, is pivoting amid global unrest to manage labor, regulatory, competition and pricing challenges.
  • Hear how Old Savannah Tours attracts and retains energetic team members, ensures consistency and accuracy, and supports the city’s tourism efforts as the longest-running trolley line in the city and the only one created, owned and operated by locals.
