Select Sires is pleased to announce the addition of Chris Bartels as Dairy Development Data Manager, a key role supporting the organization’s dairy sire development program and genetic data infrastructure.
In his new position, Bartels will oversee genetic and genomic evaluation data pipelines, collaborate with internal and external partners on genetic data initiatives, and help ensure Select Sires has the accurate and timely information needed to support sire acquisition, semen marketing, and the company’s internal breeding programs. He will also provide leadership to a team of Dairy Data Specialists and serve as a key resource for genomic evaluation inquiries.
Chris brings more than a decade of dairy genetics, breed improvement, and producer-focused experience to Select Sires. Most recently, he served as Director of Innovation and Research for Holstein Canada, where he led the development of data-driven genetic solutions and tools designed to help dairy producers make more informed breeding and management decisions. He also served as Interim Co-Chief Operating Officer during a period of organizational transition, helping guide strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration.

A graduate of the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture specializing in Animal Science, Chris has extensive experience working with genetic evaluations, breeding strategies, genomic testing programs, and industry collaboration initiatives. He has also contributed to several industry working groups focused on genetic evaluation and dairy data advancement.
