Great way for families to get their 3-Every-Day servings of dairy that help keep you healthy
A recent survey showed that food banks have been in need of dairy products to accompany foods that are donated. For example, milk and butter are needed to make boxed macaroni and cheese, and milk is needed for cereal. In the past year our dairy promotion team donated over one hundred gallons of milk to food banks to be distributed. It is unfortunate that food banks can’t distribute dairy products to everyone, but as a promotion team we are doing our best to make a difference. If you are thinking of donating to a food bank, butter and milk are great items to give as mentioned above and butter is also a key component for holiday baking.
I enjoy giving gifts to family and friends. Here are a few other ways to spread dairy cheer this year:
- Include hot chocolate with freshly baked cookies for a neighbor or friend to brighten their day.
- Choose some flavored creamers to pair with a new mug for the friend that enjoys coffee.
- Assemble a variety of cheeses from a local creamery as an alternative to holiday sweets.
- Treat a friend to flavorful seasonal ice cream such as peppermint stick, eggnog, and apple crisp.
Whatever way you spread holiday cheer this year, make sure to include dairy in it!
