Dairy is a key component of a healthy diet and a healthy life and meeting healthcare providers, big or small, is important to checkoff. That’s why Midwest Dairy developed a comprehensive and engaging toolkit themed “Smart Moo-ve Eating Healthy All Day Long” for rural health clinics and hospitals.
The toolkit offers educational handouts for parents and caregivers, activities for children on eating healthy meals and snacks, information on the major food groups and importance of each, clinic office slides, waiting room visuals, an introduction of Carly the Cow and her Smart Moo-ve Friends, recipe cards, social media graphics, a poster and a food prescription handout (which healthcare professionals can use to help parents and caregivers better understand healthier food options, nutritional benefits, and recommended portion sizes for children). The materials cover all age groups, from toddlers to teenagers.
Midwest Dairy is inviting organizations that serve rural primary care and pediatric health professionals in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and South Dakota to share the complimentary childhood nutrition-focused toolkit. Checkoff has been working hard to share this toolkit by working with state departments of health and pediatric professional associations, as well as healthcare systems that work in rural areas. Farmers are also encouraged to share with their local healthcare providers!
Rural health is a critical issue today. Is this something you’re interested in covering? Robyn Stuewe, Wellness Director at Midwest Dairy, is available for interviews upon request. You can also learn more here.
