This October, TCCA celebrated National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) by offering opportunities for team members to learn about neurodivergent perspectives through art, conversation and training. At the Portland Outpost, mixed-media visual artist Ocean Stever from North Pole Studio returned to our space to lead a paper collage workshop and Caitlin Mitchel-Markley, autistic poet, disability rights advocate and mom to autistic children, hosted a virtual training on neurodivergence awareness.
During these events, we explored the impact of creative expression, the value of different perspectives and ways to build a more inclusive workplace. Thank you to Ocean and Caitlin for being part of our NDEAM activities and sharing their expertise, experiences and time with us.
