Don’t forget to sign up for free animal care workshops happening on dairy farms near you throughout March and April! The series starts on March 31, with a workshop being held at Rohrer Dairy in Lancaster County. These on-farm events are for dairy farm owners and their employees, and they are designed to help boost your skills in four key animal welfare areas of the National FARM program. You’ll get a certificate at the end of the workshops to put in your files and show your commitment to National FARM and animal care. You’ll also have the opportunity to get certified in Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) if you’re interested.

- Which two principles explain how a handler’s position and distance influence cattle movement?
- If you stumble upon a down cow, what steps are you taking to assess the situation and to minimize further injury?
- How much time do you have before the down cow develops crushing injury or compartment syndrome?
